Big Soccer Game tonight in the semi finals of the#ConfederationsCup 2013 - a great contest of skills between #Italyand #Spain!  Who are you cheering for?

It was always a source of pure laughter, when I first arrived in Italy.  

The only time that you would see them waving their flag high and with pride - was when the Italian National Soccer Team was on the field. 

In the United States the flag is a strong symbol and one that the population holds onto very strongly.  In fact, the States wave their flag for lots of reason - and sports may or may not be on the list.

For this reason, I always found it amusing that the national spirit of a country with SO much spirit was most evident during the World Cup and the Confederation Cup - throw in a couple of races with the Ferrari and the list is just about complete.

Sometimes a Dad has to do what a Dad has to do

and as funny as it may seem to some, it just might mean having a "man bag" to stash their stuff while out and about.  My kids, nieces and nephew always give me a little chuckle (because they are taught to be polite and not point) when my significant other pulls out his Italian leather bag and slips it over his head. 

But.  It is probably one of those things they will only truly understand when they are older.  I know my reasoning is solid, if he doesn't use his messenger bag it only means that I will be carrying an extra 2 pounds of stuff in my Italian leather handbag. And he knows that stuffing bulky objects in his pant and jacket pockets destroy his elegant Italian silhouette.

So, laugh I say - we'll see who has the last laugh when you are 30 years old :-)

SUN & FUN in ITALY this Weekend

Looking at plans for this weekend and hoping to make good use of the new found warmth, sun and blue skies in Tuscany.

Plans include a day trip to San Gimignano, Pietrafitta, Volterra and Pisa before heading back home to Pierotucci Italian Leather Workshop in Florence.
